Letter U Virtual Workshop

Come see who I bring to my workshop and helps me teach letter U.  Hint... he barks and loves to play catch, come learn with me today!

In my virtual workshops I teach letters, sounds, and reading skills for Pre-K learners as well as children who struggle with speech and reading. The instruction provides multi-sensory and phonemic rhymes, songs, and hands-on activities with reading and writing suggestions for a total learning!

Let's enjoy teaching together!

n & u How to Teach the Difference

Two other letters that are difficult for children to remember are the lowercase letters "n" and "u." Here are a few tips to help the child differentiate the two.

teaching preschooler the difference between u and n

Lowercase letter "u" has a opening at the top of the letter. I tell the child that it's open so you can fill it up with water for U the pup, found in the Amazing Action Alphabet Flip Chart book.

Lowercase letter "n" has a curve on the top of the letter. I tell the child the curve is like the cure on your fingernail like the mom uses in the story with N the naughty newt, found in the Amazing Action Alphabet Flip Chart. (The mom shakes her finger and says /n/ /n/ /n/.)

I hope this will help a child that you are working with!  What are some tips you use that help?  I love to hear how it's going.  Comment on this blog and let's chat!

Playing With My Pups.

By encouraging dramatic play a child’s cognitive development is increased. For example today each child performed a theatrical show about U the Pups family. As each child participated in this activity they were problem solvers, they used their creative thinking skills and language skills!

Here is a fun video to show you how I introduce the letter U to my students:
