Have you ever tried Play Foam in your classroom or play time? If you haven't, you have got to buy some! It works really well to form letters and it isn't messy like Play Doh. The children enjoy creating and it is a cheap learning tool.
Around here I buy it at Utah Idaho Supply for 24 cents a pack. It's worth all those pennies ;)!
