Learning To READ!

A great VISUAL AID for beginning readers is to use the colors of a stop light when reading a story. Color the words that do not sound out RED, reminding the child to STOP and recall the word. Color commonly used words GREEN reminding the child to GO. (The child should know these words and have practiced them.) Color the newly practiced words YELLOW, reminding them to SLOW DOWN and think about what the word is. (I like to color names yellow.)
